SAN REMIGIO, CEBU - In year 2017, the Municipality of San Remigio is the first town to conduct the Municipal Talakayan at Municipal Social Hall on April 21, 2017.

The session was attended by the presence of Mayor Mariano R. Martinez and 66 attendees which were 12 MIAC/LGU, 27 Barangay Captains, 20 Community Volunteers and 7 Non-community volunteers.

“Tan-awon ug makat-on jud kita sa sitwasyon sa atoang lungsod”, Mayor Mariano stated.

“Ang katawhan ang mu-implementar, mu-empower jud ta para sa kalambuan sa atong lungsod”, he added.

The current situations and the plans for the progress of the town was the main agenda of the Talakayan.

“Ang Purpose ning atong Kalihukan mao ang pagpasaka sa kasayuran sa katawhan, paghatag og higayon sa usa ka hapsay nga pag-atubangay ug pagpalapad sa kasayuran og mga datos nga anaa sa mga kagamhanan sa barangay ug lungsod”, Mr. Elbert Estrada discussed.

The major needs of the townsfolk were determined by the Summary Matrix of Municipal Development Priorities, Interventions and Gaps of the Municipality.

These include the Access Mobility which is street concreting; Employment/Income generation which are Livelihood Skills Training and Assistance, and Alternative Livelihood Program; and Peace and Order which is Enforcement of Brgy. Ordinances.

“Panahon sa ting-init abog ang dalan, lubakon og maglisod ug pag-agi ang mga tawo gikan sa bukid”, residents complained.

Engr. Norman Burlaos explained the State of Socio-Economic Development of San Remigio surveyed by the Local Government Unit.

According to the survey, the cleanliness and water resources is 23.76% out of 14,318 households; informal settlers is 4.13% out of 14,318 households; Peace and order is 0.41% out of 14,318 households; education is 15.95% out of 5,266 children aged 6-12 and 29.45% out of 3,246 aged 13-17 are not attending school.

Hon. Antonio Villamor discussed about the plans and future activities to lessen the percentage economic problem, these include Entrepreneurship Business and Industry Promotion Sector in attracting business sectors to invest; Health Sector for immediate delivery of health service; Housing and Basic Services to improve basic service delivery; and Financial Accountability Sector to systemize Local Operation and Management, and to reduce tax delinquency rate.

“Sa atong nakat-onan, makahibaw nata unsay buhaton --- ang pagtinabangay”. Ms. Castro exclaimed.
