THE 3rd 8080 San Remigio Triathlon will have a record field tomorrow after drawing 315 entries including former senator Pia Cayetano.
Last year, the event, which ahs a 1.8-kilometer swim, 65-kilometer bike and a 14K run, drew 296 entries.
“It’s the first time that we have former senator Pia Cayetano as guest for the event. We also have participants from Butuan, Iligan, Bohol, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Manila, and of course from Cebu” said Steve Maniquis of Cornerstone Group.
“This year has a lot of entries for the relay category, we have 48 teams compared to 35 teams last year,” he added.
Maniquis said that all things are now in place and the race is now good to go. The race will start at 10: 30 a.m. “The weather is good compared to last week and we’re looking for a good race to happen,” he said.
Elite triathletes who will suit up for the 8080 distance are Paul Jumamil, Banjo Norte, Kristiane Lim, Emmanuel Comendador, among others. In the women’s division are Louie Villacin, Cianyl Jamae Gonzalez and Lucille Ruiz.
On the other hand, Aaliyah Ricci Mataragnon of Sante Barley, who recently topped the Sunrise Sprint distance women’s race in Bohol last Sunday, will be suiting up in the 4040 race, which covers 900-meter swim, 32.5K bike and 7K run.
National team member for triathlon Kim Andrew Remolino of Talisay City will also be racing in the men’s 4040 distance.
